Theatre
Mrs. Joan Williams, Room 307
The International Thespian Society, the student division of the Educational Theatre Association is the world's largest honor society for theatre arts students. Ursuline High School troupe 5185 encourages students to attain a better mastery of the theatre arts and reqards those who achieve the standards of excellence.
Each year, two musicals are produced at Ursuline High School. Auditions are held for casting purposes. Students not wishing to appear on stage serve in backstage capacities (e.g. lights, sound board, props, etc.) Extracurricular eligibility applies. Rehearsals are held several days per week after school (3 - 5) or in the early evening (5 - 8) as well as on Saturday / Sunday afternoon.
Ursuline also produces a winter drama or comedy. Once again, auditions are held for casting and there are many positions in the crew. A great Ursuline tradition in the theater program is the annual Student Directed One Acts. Students submit scripts to the Theater Director, who selects five to six for production. The student directors cast actors, build simple sets, and hold rehearsals. The evening of one act plays is annually performed before a sold-out audience.
