
Ursuline High School Retreat Program![]() FreshmenThe freshmen begin their spiritual journey at St. Columba Cathedral when the newly acquainted freshmen are still getting to know each other. Students participate in ice breakers and small group activities to learn more about each other and to build a sense of comfort, trust, and unity with their classmates. Students also tour St. Columba Cathedral to learn about our Cathedral church. SophomoresUsing various forms of music, students are led through a process of recognizing the meaning of the lyrics and the messages in music. Collages are also designed that examine the complex and varied issues in the world around us. Students are ultimately led to recognize that the difference in the world ultimately starts with them. JuniorsThe junior retreat focuses on social justice issues. Students are broken into small groups and large groups for other session where they focus on their own relationships in relationship to those in different parts of the world. Students also examine their own wastefulness and how that they can in fact streamline their own lives and value the goods that they have. SeniorsCelebrate their retreat at the Villa Marie Retreat Center. Students begin the day with prayer and reflection. Students participate in a variety of activities in which they refocus who on who they are as individual in the final year at Ursuline. Students create Jacobs' Ladders where they identify goals that they have for not only their senior year but also their entire life. Students are blindfolded and lead on a trust walk with a fellow classmate. One of their favorite activities is the affirmation session; where students simply are asked affirm one another, during which they begin to realize how important they are as an individual. Finally, students spend reflection time walking a labyrinth. ![]() |
