Financial Aid & Scholarships
The education of young people involves a cooperative partnership between parents and the school. Ursuline High School is and always will be committed to providing tuition assistance in the form of academic scholarships, work-study grants, Adopt-A-Student grants, and need-based scholarships and grants. All students of Ursuline High School are eligible to apply for financial aid regardless of sex, race, creed, nationality or ethnic origin.
Process
In order to be eligible for financial aid, a student must be officially registered at Ursuline High School and his/her parent/guardian must complete the Ursuline High School Financial Aid Form, which is to be returned directly to Ursuline High School. To also be considered for financial assistance based upon NEED, a Private School Aid Service (PSAS) form must also be completed and mailed in the envelope provided. Both of these forms are first available during Ursuline’s Open House on Sunday, February 7 and in the main office following the open house. Applications are due April 1 to the main office. Late applications will be placed in a pending file and will not be considered until all applications received on time have been processed. Recipients of financial aid will be notified as to the amount of financial assistance in early June.
Sources of Financial Aid
Bowers' Scholarship Trust
This $1,000,000 trust was established by the late Frank and Marie Bowers to provide tuition assistance for students attending Ursuline and Cardinal Mooney High Schools. Each of the two schools receives one-half of the annual interest earned from the trust. Bowers' Grants are awarded to students for tuition assistance based upon financial need. Both the Ursuline Financial Aid Application form and the PSAS form are required for eligibility.
Winter's Student Fund
Assistance from this fund is used primarily for those families who have two or more children enrolled at Ursuline High School.
Adopt-A-Student Program
This program was initiated by the Alumni and Advancement Office during the 1985 school year. Sponsors pledge an annual or monthly contribution to assist a student in need. Sponsors and student recipients are matched after consultation with the Director of Development and the Principal of Ursuline High School.
Work-Study Program
Ursuline High School employs approximately 30 students per year in a variety of capacities. These students receive an hourly wage, which is automatically applied to their tuition account. Most students on this program earn an average of $1,000 per year.
Ursuline High School Endowed Scholarships
The Ursuline High School Endowed Scholarships are part of the Ursuline High School Endowment and are governed by a Board of Trustees.
