Parent Information NightOctober 6, 2009 Parents of 6th, 7th, & 8th graders are invited to a special parent information night on October 6 beginning at 7:00. Ursuline’s administrative team will present an overview of the Ursuline experience and information about our financial aid program. Parents will also have the opportunity to ask questions and take a tour of the building. Please contact Mr. Matt Sammartino with any other questions, (330) 744-4563. Ursuline-Mooney RallyEveryone is welcome to join thousands of other Ursuline fans for an explosion of Irish spirit on October 22 during the Ursuline-Mooney rally. The rally begins at 12:45 PM in the gym. Eighth Grade DaysNovember 10 or 12, 2009 8th Grade Day is an opportunity for prospective students to spend a day at Ursuline High School. The day begins with icebreaker activities followed by 3 sessions: science exploration, a tour, and scavenger hunt. Students also eat lunch, view the Ursuline Edge video, and play a special Ursuline trivia game. Lunch is courtesy of Ursuline, but students may pack their own lunch. If your child does not attend one of our feeder schools, call Matt Sammartino at (330) 744-4563 to reserve a date and for more information. Shadow DaysThis is an opportunity for 8th graders to see what a real day of classes is like at Ursuline. During a shadow day, 8th grade students are the guests of a member of our freshman class. He or she will follow the freshman's schedule throughout the day. In order to set up a visit, simply call Mr. Matt Sammartino at (330) 744-456 or see Shadow Days for more information. Scholarship & Placement TestSaturday, November 14, December 5, or February 20 Ursuline will administer its placement test on Saturday, November 14, from 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon in the Ursuline cafeteria for all incoming freshmen. There is no charge for the test. Students should bring two # 2 pencils and a calculator. To register for the test, parents must call the main office at (330) 744-4563 and reserve a place for their child. The placement test is used by the guidance department and administration to place students in the appropriate course level, including honors. Several academic scholarships are awarded based on scores from the Scholarship & Placement Test. Open HouseSunday, February 7, 2010 Please join the Ursuline High School administration, teachers, and coaches for an informative and exciting afternoon at Ursuline. You will have the opportunity to speak with department chairs and teachers concerning Ursuline’s academic program, as well as view textbooks and sample student work. Parents can also learn more about our financial aid program and register for several tuition raffles. Student Ambassadors will be leading tours of the Ursuline facility. Student performances and opportunities to visit with athletic coaches will also be available. Seventh Grade NightClass of 2015 You’re Invited to 7th Grade Night All 7th graders are invited to Ursuline on Saturday, February 20 for a fun and exciting night of competitions and food. The night will begin with several icebreakers, including Ursuline’s favorite tradition, Ships and Sailors. Following our icebreaker session students can choose from a number of different competitions and activities, including basketball, volleyball, Texas Hold ‘em, crafts, foosball, ping-pong, and bean toss. At each competition students earn tickets for a chance to win prizes at the end of the night. Student Ambassadors will be available all evening to assist seventh graders. The night concludes with pizza and our award winning sundae bar. All students will also receive an Ursuline t-shirt. 5th & 6th Grade DayFriday, March 26, 2010 5th & 6th Grade Day is designed to give younger students an opportunity to experience high school. During the day students will attend three sessions that are similar to a high school student’s classes or extracurricular activities, such as The Magic of Chemistry, Catapult Wars, Speed Drills or Italian Cooking. Students pick their classes ahead of time and receive a schedule for the day. Students will also eat lunch, attend a one-act play, and participate in a mini rally.
