Ursuline High School
Scholarship Information
What is an endowed scholarship?
An endowed scholarship not only creates a lasting tribute to a teacher, friend
or family member but also plays a vital role in providing tuition assistance for
young men and women to attend Ursuline High School. All scholarships are
part of our Endowment Fund. As such, the principal remains in perpetuity.
Grants are awarded based on the interest earned.
Do I have the
opportunity to establish criteria for my scholarship?
Scholarship founders at Ursuline have the opportunity to establish scholarship
guidelines. This means that you can determine if you want the recipient to
maintain a certain grade point average, show proficiency in a specific subject
area or live in a certain part of Youngstown.
Who oversees the Endowment?
The Endowment Board of Trustees oversees the Endowment, endowment investments
and all special investments.
Mr. Ronald Ameen
Atty. Matthew L. DeVicchio
Mr. Michael J. Fagert
Patricia Fleming
Carolyn L. Korenic
Rev. Richard Murphy
Dr. Michael Skube
Mr. Thomas Stabi
Is there more than one way to make a gift to the Endowed Scholarship Program?
While the most common method to endow a scholarship is to give cash, there are
other options.
1. Gifts of Securities: Take advantage of gifts
through appreciated securities.
Inquiries may be directed to the Office of Alumni and Advancement at
330-744-4563
or to Mr. Ronald Ameen ('68), UBS Financial Services at 330-533-7191.
Planned Gifts:
2. Bequests: Remember Ursuline High School in your
will
3. Gifts in Trust: Charitable Remainder Trusts offer
tax advantages and payments to the donor
4. Life Estate Agreements: the donor uses the property
for life; the donor, however, is responsible for the upkeep of the property
How does an Ursuline student apply for tuition assistance?
1. Complete the Ursuline High School Financial Aid Application and return
it to Ursuline High School by April 5.
2. Complete the application for Private School Aid Service (PSAS) if you are
interested in financial assistance based upon need. The PSAS application
packet must be mailed in the envelope provided with the PSAS packet by April 5.
3. Your child must be officially registered at Ursuline High School by May
1 or your financial aid application will not be considered.
Late applications will be placed in a pending file and will not be reviewed
until all applications received on time have been processed. No need based
aid (Bowers Grants) will be awarded without an application for PSAS.
