The Curriculum Lab

Developed in 2001, the Curriculum Lab is utilized by teachers and their classes for instruction, projects, and research. The lab houses 25 iMac computers with Internet access. In addition to productivity software, such as Microsoft Office and Adobe PageMaker, teachers utilize Dissection Works for science instruction, Rosetta Stone for foreign language instruction, and other subject specific software. This lab will be up-dated in 2009-10.

The Lyden Lab

The Lyden Lab provides workstations for the school’s computer education classes. The UHS Computer Club and yearbook staff also uses the lab’s 25 computers, printers, and scanners. The lab also contains a SmartBoard to enhance computer instruction. All of the lab’s computers were replaced in the summer of 2003 and another major replacement of ten computers was completed in 2008.

Teachers and students also utilize six multimedia carts. Each cart contains a projector, which can be used with a laptop computer, VCR/DVD, or Elmo Enlargement Device.

Study Island & PowerSchool

Among the many instructional technology tools available to students and teachers at Ursuline is Study Island, an Ohio Graduation Testing (OGT) web based preparation program that can be tailored to focus on a student’s academic deficiencies and used at school or home. Ursuline will also begin using PowerSchool, a web based grade book that allows parents access to their student’s grades and the opportunity for on-line communication with teachers.
