Ursuline's Mission Statement

We are Ursuline, a college preparatory school of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Youngstown, serving the people of the Mahoning Valley since 1905. We are a caring community dedicated to the challenging work of Catholic Education. Inspired by the founding tradition of St. Angela Merici and the Ursuline Sisters, we invite persons of diverse backgrounds into a family of faith, achievement, and promise. We instill and celebrate the richness of a Catholic witness of faith. We educate young people for life-long learning as responsible citizens in a global society. We model the character and wisdom of our ancestors in faith by forging a living legacy of accomplishment for the glory of God alone.

Belief Statements

To fulfill our Mission.....

  1. We assist our students in the proper formation of a moral conscience in order that they might live their lives more abundantly in Christ.
  2. We promote excellence in all aspects of the Ursuline experience.
  3. We strengthen the necessary partnership between home and school, affirming the truth that Ursuline exists to serve the primary educator of the student - the parent or guardian.
  4. We remain committed to educating students of diverse economic, cultural, religious, racial and ethnic backgrounds.
  5. We promote responsible social change based on Gospel values.
  6. We champion superior standards of academic achievement which establish the groundwork for our graduates' success in personal, academic, and career endeavors.
  7. We teach an integrated curriculum rooted in Gospel values and Catholic teachings.
  8. We nurture without compromise each individual person's inherent worth and dignity.
  9. We express the foundational sacramental principle that God acts through everyone; that all can make a difference, all can touch the future, and all can build the kingdom of God.
  10. We employ traditional and innovative methods of inquiry, research and assessment which meet the many educational needs of the learners in our care.
  11. We continually challenge one another - adults and adolescents - to strive for growth as learners, believers, and citizens.
  12. We resolve issues of conflict and division by mutual respect and a Christian regard for one another that affirms the goodness of the individual and the strengthening of our community.
